Smartwool page A Smartwool clothing giveaway!While gearing up for our year-long family bike tour, we knew we would have to make some hard choices about what to take with us. With the knowledge that we would be carrying all of our possessions on our bikes, we needed functional and multi-use items. But when it came to planning what clothes we would wear, there was one thing we knew for sure: we needed as many merino wool items as possible!

Simply put, merino wool is a miracle fibre for everyday use but incredibly awesome for active sweat-inducing use in any weather. Naturally antimicrobial, one can sweat through an article of clothing for days without suffering the wrath for body odour funk. (Trust us – we’ve gone at least a week without washing the bike shorts we use everyday and their smell was still tolerable!) Unlike traditional wool, it is soft to the touch and quite comfortable against the skin, meaning you can use it for a variety of items as it works just as well in socks or underwear as it does in sweaters. Most items can be washed and dried in a normal machine without issue. It also preforms swimmingly as a performance fabric, wicking moisture away from the body without feeling wet against your skin. And as an insulator, it is still effective when wet!
