The gentle wind was still breezing swiftly as we crawled into the tent last night. It was a warm dry air that swept through the tent, allowing us to sleep with little use of the sleeping bags. A couple of sleepy hours must have passed by the time I woke up suddenly to gusting winds knocking the tent about. Everything remained secure for now so I tried to get back to sleep. You could hear the gusts coming 10 seconds before they hit the tent. My body seemed to brace itself for each blow, wondering if the tent could hold fast. Switching Gears: Camping in Ludington State Park
Last weekend, we drove 8 hours to Ludington Michigan to camp at Ludington State Park. The park lies on the east side of Lake Michigan with beautiful sandy dunes and gorgeous sunsets. The campsites are fantastic with lots of room and shade. Ludington is a family tradition for Reuben’s side of the family – Reuben has been camping there almost every year since he’s was nine years old — always this time of year when the days are long and the temps are still cool. After a five year hiatus from this tradition due to babies being born and weddings throughout the family, we made the trek once again to spend time with Reuben’s parents, his siblings and their families.
