On Saturday we gathered along with 40 or 50 other cyclists at a local park for the first annual Hamilton Blessing of the Bikes. The weather was bright, sunny and warm — a stark contrast to the dreary, rain-filled days we have become accustomed to over the past few weeks. It was the kind of day that makes you excited for the summer and all it’s cycling possibilities.
Kids Canada Day bicycle parade and bike exchange
A local neighbourhood association organized a kids bicycle parade this past weekend to celebrate Canada Day. We all met beforehand to decorate the kids bikes with maple leaves and Canadian flags. Everyone wound their way slowly through the neighbourhood dinging their bells and shouting ‘Happy Canada Day!’ to everyone they saw. Inaugural family bike ride
Seeing as Harper is now 7 months old, we figured it was high time we get him on a bike! With a long-weekend here in Ontario, and beautiful sunny weather, we took a ride down to the waterfront (about 8km roundtrip) for some ice cream and playtime on an old tugboat has been converted to a kids playground. Harper road upfront on Heidi’s bike, which will probably be his seat of choice for the rest of the summer. Eden took her regular seat on the back of the Big Dummy.
